STAFF,TALLIT AND YALMULKE OF THE MATRIARCH SARAH

These are companion pieces for the Matriarch series. They are imagined ritual objects that the Jewish Matriarchs used in their wanderings through the desert. In biblical time the women were not allowed to use these objects of sacredness: the staff, for power; the tallit, prayer shawl for a symbolic "tent of meeting" with God; and the yalmulke or kepot, head covering, so that God can be pleased with color and design as well as a show of respect.
