Just as the light of the sun nourishes life on earth, so the image of Light informs Judaism. Light imagery is seen in the Jewish calender, ceremonial art and imagery, theology and sacred texts. Creation begins with G-d's command: "Let there be Light..." Light as an expression of the Divine Spirit is central to Jewish teaching: "For with You is the source of life, by Your light, do we see light..."
